I am looking at buying a sat phone would you be able to give me some info. I am a truck driver that drives through the mountains in BC and have had problems with no cell net work i would need a phone and plan for emergency use only.
Iridium is the most reliable network, although, it still has issues in the mountains. The Iridium 9555 currently costs $1395 and the Iridium Extreme with GPS and SOS features is $1695. The Iridium GO! can also be used, $999. A plan, if staying in Canada, is $750 per year, or about $61 / month.
